IN A RACE

I'm in a race
not a political
or ethical type of race
It's not about a color line
or crossing a finish line
for ethnic race
not even recording my heart at pace
I'm in a race
to be on time
from being patient at times
when judgement and being opinionated
is ones leap towards faith
I'm in a race
for writing lines
without writing rhymes
recording all in my mind
on a stop watch without a face
I'm in a race
to promote common sense
over nonsense
while pretense is making a sentence
without me being sentence through a debate
I'm in race
moving fast in a slow pace
I'm in a race
in rush hour in slow hours
with plenty time to waist
I'm in a race

running up your reading time
cause in my race
I just tied up all your attention
without knotting up a lace
